Valerio leads UTSA on second day of Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Paola Valerio carded three birdies on Saturday and she is in a tie for 34th place after two days of the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate.

The Roadrunners shaved five strokes off of their first-day total and are in 10th place with a 623 (314-309). The Birds are just one shot behind No. 34 Kentucky and six strokes in front of former Southland Conference foe Lamar.

Starting the day on No. 10, Valerio birdied Nos. 14, 17 and 4 for her four-over-par 76, while Taylor Newlin cut seven strokes off of her first round for a 76 of her own. The Frisco native recorded a pair of birdies and is tied for 55th with a 159 (83-76).

Meanwhile, Fabiola Arriaga is in a tie for 37th with a 153 (78-77) and Brogan Townend is tied for 61st at 160 (80-80). Chelsea Bretcher rounded out UTSA's scoring with a 161 (78-83) to tie for 64th.

No. 9 Vanderbilt holds a three-shot lead over 16th-ranked Purdue with a 583 (290-293), while Augusta State’s Natalie Wells leads all players with a 142 (70-72).

The tournament will conclude on Sunday morning.
