Hogan leads UTSA to 10th place at Bayou City Collegiate Championship
HUMBLE — Led by a 15th-place finish from Brett Hogan, the UTSA men's golf team finished 10th at this weekend's Bayou City Collegiate Championship, which wrapped up on Sunday at Redstone Golf Club's Championship Course (par 72/6,963 yards).
Hogan entered the final round in 23rd place after carding a pair of 72s in the first two rounds. The freshman from Calgary, Alberta, matched that score in the final 18 and ended up in a three-way tie for 15th at even-par 216.
Garrison Lackey tied for 25th after posting the Birds' low round final-round score of 71 to finish at three-over 219 (74-74-71).
Hogan and Lackey helped the Roadrunners finish 10th in a 15-team field that featured six nationally-ranked squads.
UTSA shot seven-over 295 to close out a 19-over 883, edging out five teams, including No. 50 Indiana, which placed 12th (893).
Behind individual medalist Brandon Stone, who shot nine-under 207, No. 3 Texas ran away with the team title after carding a 22-under 842, while co-host No. 36 Houston was runner-up at one-under 863.
Ryan Werre tied for 56th (78-74-74—226), Stanton Tondre tied for 60th (71-76-80—227) and J.J. Lindsey ended up 71st (75-79-78—232) to round out the Roadrunners' five.
Taylor Koser finished 83rd (77-87-77—241) while competing as an individual.
The Roadrunners will return to the course when the travel to Lafayette, La., to compete in the Louisiana Classics from March 4-5.
