IRVING — Conference USA (C-USA) announced its complete football schedule for the upcoming 2013 season on Wednesday. The 14-team league will feature each team playing eight C-USA games, along with four non-conference contests.
This year's conference alignment will feature seven teams each in East and West Divisions. East Carolina, Florida Atlantic (FAU), Florida International (FIU), Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Southern Mississippi and UAB will comprise the East, while Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Rice, Tulane, Tulsa and UTEP will join the Roadrunners in the West.
UTSA's home slate will include league games against Rice (Oct. 12), UAB (Oct. 26), Tulane (Nov. 9) and Louisiana Tech (Nov. 30) to go along with non-conference tilts against Oklahoma State (Sept. 7) and Houston (Sept. 28). Meanwhile, the Roadrunners road ledger will see them travel to UTEP (Sept. 21), Marshall (Oct. 5), Tulsa (Nov. 2) and North Texas (Nov. 23) in addition to non-league contests at New Mexico (Aug. 31) and Arizona (Sept. 14). UTSA will not play on Oct. 19 or Nov. 14. Please note that the schedule is subject to change.
The 2013 schedule has 14 playing weeks, which provides for two open dates for each team. The format is a one-year model, meaning that as the conference lineup changes for the 2014 season, opponents may change and locations of games for that season are not yet determined.
An announcement of this fall's televised games will be made at a later date. C-USA's national television partners are FOX Sports Networks and CBS Sports Network for regular season games. The league’s ninth annual Championship Game, which will pit the East and West Division Champions, is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, and the contest will be televised by ESPN or ESPN2.
UTSA posted an 8-4 overall record and 3-3 mark in its first and only season as a member of the Western Athletic Conference this past season. Head coach Larry Coker welcomes back 18 starters (10 offense/8 defense) and a total of 51 letterwinners for the program's inaugural campaign as a member of C-USA.
The Roadrunners will kick off spring drills on Tuesday, March 19, and the Third Annual UTSA Football Fiesta Spring Game presented by Health Texas will be played at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, at Dub Farris Stadium.
