UTSA looks to extend winning streak on Saturday at Rice
SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will look to extend its perfect start to the 2012 season on Saturday when it travels to Houston to face future Conference USA member Rice (1-5). Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Rice Stadium.
Coming off their lone bye week of the campaign, the Roadrunners (5-0) opened Western Athletic Conference play with a 35-14 victory at New Mexico State in their last outing on Sept 29.
UTSA, one of just 16 undefeated teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and the lone unbeaten squad in the state of Texas, currently is riding a six-game winning streak dating back to the final contest of the inaugural 2011 season. In fact, the Roadrunners have outscored their opponents by a combined score of 238-85 (average score of 40-14) during their program-record stretch of victories.
The Roadrunners are making the jump to the FBS this fall after posting a 4-6 record as a Football Championship Subdivision independent a year ago.
