SAN ANTONIO — UTSA used a balanced attack en route to a 25-17, 25-15, 25-19 sweep of Louisiana Tech on Thursday night.

The Roadrunners (11-5, 4-2 WAC) wore pink jerseys in their annual "Dig Pink" match in support of the Side-Out Foundation, which funds breast cancer research clinicals.

Senior Whitney Walls tallied 11 kills to pace the Birds, who hit .320 in the match, while junior Brandy Huskey and freshman Erin Foley split time running the offense and they contributed 18 and 16 assists, respectively. Foley also racked up a season-high five service aces.

The Lady Techsters (3-15, 0-6 WAC), who lost their ninth consecutive match, received 25 helpers from Maria Coelho and 15 digs from Stephany Salas.

Louisiana Tech held a 4-3 advantage early in the first set before a Walls winner and a trio of attack errors by the Lady Techsters gave the Roadrunners the lead for good. UTSA increased its advantage to as much as nine points before winning the panel by eight.

The Birds built an early lead and hit .393 to cruise to a second-set victory. UTSA raced out to a 10-2 advantage and then won 15 of the final 27 points to take a commanding lead into intermission.

The two teams split the first 18 points of the final stanza before the Roadrunners reeled off a 7-0 run to cruise the rest of the way.

UTSA will continue league action against UT Arlington (6-12, 2-4 WAC) at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
