Michael Rockett
FRISCO — The honors continue to roll in for junior Michael Rockett, as the Southland Conference tabbed him the Hitter of the Week on Tuesday. That came on the heels being named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball on Monday.

Rockett was spectacular in leading UTSA to a four-game sweep of Sacred Heart last weekend. He led a 48-run (school record for four-game series), 56-hit offensive onslaught by going 10-for-16 (.625 avg.) with four doubles, a triple, his first home run of the year and nine RBIs. The preseason first-team All-Southland Conference choice also recorded a 1.188 slugging percentage on the strength of 19 total bases and scored six times.

The highlight of his weekend came in Saturday's nightcap when he hit for the cycle, a first in school history, in the game's first four innings. The Sugar Land native — who also had a career-high six RBIs in the 16-2 victory — doubled in the first inning, singled in the second, homered in the third and tripled in the fourth before taking the rest of the game off. Earlier in the day, the 2006 Freshman All-American went 2-for-3 with a double and finished the twinbill by going 6-for-7.

Rockett was 3-for-4 with a double, a pair of RBIs and four runs scored in the series opener on Friday night and he wrapped up the weekend by going 1-for-4 with a run-scoring, ground-rule double on Sunday.

He is hitting .464 (13-28) with six doubles, a triple, one long ball and 12 RBIs in the season's first eight games. Rockett has scored eight runs, reached base at a .500 clip, is slugging .857 (24 total bases) and stolen one base.
